Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:30 am

Hi there,

I wish to connect my 8 years old usb camera that I have been using in my old laptop with win xp.
Now I want to connect it with my Raspberry Pi 3 within USB.
Do I need to configure all stuff that is written in blog https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... e/webcams/? Will this work? Have anybody do something like this with I thing VGA camera?
Thanx,

Best advice is to just try it.

Yes, I know... at this point, I have minor time to do this, and this is reason that I ask if someone have done this with USB camera instead of Raspi official camera.
I will try to do this when I found some time...
I dont want other people to do this for me, just if someone have same situation. My hobby is programming and I love to do this my own, my passion is programming...

I have used an application called "Cheese" to connect a USB camera to a RPi.

Although I have not used it, the OpenCV package looks as though it might be a good starting point for programming.
If you want a Python 2 interface to OpenCV :
sudo pip install opencv

with documentation at
http://opencv-python-tutroals.readthedo ... rials.html
