RS485 Shield v3 - need help

Sat Jul 29, 2017 5:46 pm

I bought the RS485 shield and the Raspberry Pi v3 in order to communicate with the modbus enabled house ventilation unit. My plan was to build the code in Node Red, but I am not able to get started.

All guides that I find seems to be outdated and refers to edit the /etc/inittab, which is not present in the new version of Raspian. Can anyone here give me a hint in the rgith direction to set up the new Raspberry PI 3 for the RS485 shield.

Thanks in advance

what kind of RS485 shield are you using?
does it handle the data direction( read/write) or it's just an RS485 UART hardware chip?
if you have something like this
https://shop.controleverything.com/coll ... ons-module
all you will need to do is read write data on uart in the Modbus command and it will take care of the data direction and read write on RS485 port.
