RFID Mid-Range reading (0.5m - 1m)

Fri Jul 14, 2017 8:35 am

Hello everyone!

I'm currently evaluating a project which would require a RFID Reader on a range of about 0.5m - 1m. I'm unsure if i'm able to do this with a 13.56 MHz (HF) module or if I already need a UHF Reader at this distance? Are there any good Readers on this range for a Raspberry?

Basically what it should be able to cover:
- Range between 0.5m and 1m
- Able to read passive Tags
- Able to read multiple Tags

I'm thankful for every help.

Cheers!

The descriptions are a little vague about range. Sometimes stated as "one meter, or less" or "up to one meter." I guess that's why you want advice from someone who has a specific device. Of course, there's a dependency on both sides (tag and reader).

Hope you don't need the UHF stuff. It's $$$$$$

You could probably afford to play with the cheapies for awhile, relatively speaking, and try a few.

Alright, do you have some examples of components?
