Announcements

Fri Jun 30, 2017 10:02 am

This thread is a mod only place to announce things that are not quite important enough to have their own blog post.

For example, changes to documentation that people may find useful, links to interesting projects that are currently popular etc.

For those people who are in to that sort of thing, there is a thread on Wifi issues on github, and I just added some information that those people with SSH or NTP lockup issues (and maybe Wifi issues in general) may be interested in.

There has been an update to the Compliance page, to add more documents, including more from other countries worldwide.

There is a slight formatting issue on the new table on the page, which I'll try and sort out at some point.

Broadpwn fix.

The latest firmware for the Wireless chip has a fix for the Broadpwn exploit.

This is already present in Stretch, but for Jessie..

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
should get the new firmware as well as more recent drivers etc.

Not hugely exciting, but we had a few pages on the website (products etc) that had a very difficult to read font. This should now be fixed.

Some news for Bluetooth users.

We have just pushed some fixes to the repos that should make Bluetooth a LOT more stable and useful.

The fixes include new Bluetooth firmware, a Bluez patch and a UART driver fix, which when all combined make a huge difference.

Use apt-get update etc to get the fixes.

Have fun!

Forum Search

Mon Nov 13, 2017 4:47 pm

Announcing slightly in advance, because I have to go catch a train.

We are replacing the forum search with a DuckDuckGo search. Forum search has always been pretty bad, but recently it has also got slower as well. Whilst indirection to DDG takes you to an off site landing page, it only searches the forums, so you can bounce straight back to the topics you are looking for.

The search should be much faster, and much more accurate.

Please post a new thread if you have any issues.

Thanks to the web guys for making this happen.

As part of the same update there have also been some minor changes to some of the colours on the website to make them a little more contrasty to make it even easier to read. We would also welcome feedback on that.

We now have a new forum specifically for the Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac. *

viewforum.php?f=116

* we need an acronym for that.

Been a few updates to the documentation areas, but the main one is the AP docs have been updated to work with Stretch. Thanks to SurferTim for the PR. It's great when we get community input like this.
