[Power Supply] For a RaspBerry 3 model B

Sat May 20, 2017 4:45 pm

Hello,

I would like to make a RecalBox. I'm making a Shopping Cart at the moment but I'm asking of myself if I can use my Wiko's Power-Supply to power on the RaspBerry.

I have 2 Power Supply :

- 5V - 1A (Wiko)
- 5V - 4A (but I use this very frequently) (One Plus's Dash Charge)

Can I use the first one ? If not what are you offering ?

Because I don't have a lot money, and 15€ for a power supply.. It's very expansive.

Sincerely,

Nh0s.

1A likely isn't going to cut it. Iffy at best IMHO. The 3B draws 400ma at idle.

Then add in what ever your USB connected devices draw. Try it, if you start seeing a lightning bolt pop up on screen, you'll need something with more ma.

I've used this one among others and it is very reliable:

There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.

I have one of those too. It powers my Media Center KODO Pi.

It is strongly recommended to read this: http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeriphera ... r_Adapters
For RPi3 there is recommended to have 2.5 Amps and up.

Where do you get the 3A+ recommendation from?

The "official" PSU is 2.5A, and is sufficient for a Pi3B with "normal" peripherals. It might struggle to power a touchscreen and a hard disk at the same time, but it can cope with one or the other. However, without knowing the power requirements of the OP's peripherals, there is an element of guesswork.

The recommended (Pi foundation) is 2.5A not 3A and up, https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/faqs/#topPower I've run mine on 2A power supplies no problem.
