Amazing, such a milestone. They look great. Can\'t wait for January so I can get my hands on one (or two).

Fantastic work from all involved :-)

Slashdot - oh, tell me about it! I had someone on Twitter complaining at length that we were vapourware yesterday. I explained that he\'d be very unhappy if we sold him an untested board that didn\'t work, and he called me \"unfair\". You can\'t win.

Edit: just read Slashdot…

Jesus. Some people really aren\'t getting what they want from Santa, are they? I\'m going to have a shower now. I feel *filthy*.

Ah, Slashdot always goes nuts during school holidays. It just becomes one big opinionated troll-fest. I wouldn\'t take it personally.

I\'m having a laugh reading and commenting. Some people just don\'t get it!

Add this at the top of your Index PHP page, it should be more of the level of most of the slashdot posters.

$referrer = $_SERVER[\'HTTP_REFERER\'];
if (preg_match(\"/slashdot.org/\",$referrer)) {
header(\'Location: http://http://www.disney.co.uk/\');
};

Will the ribbon sockets be populated (or unpopulated but still active) on the final non-beta boards? Being able to plug in a camera and display directly could be a lot of fun.

And I bet people will still call it vaporware! :P[/quote]

Though to be fair it does seem to be more \"I\'ll believe it when it happens\" than \"it won\'t happen\". I\'ve seen enough product taken to pre-production prototype only to never be released to understand that attitude.

I definitely believe the R-Pi will make it into production but others cannot be blamed for being more cynical about it. The only absolute we have is that it is progressing and should reach production soon; no promises or guarantees beyond that, no definitive release date.

I just saw one in the flesh! Really tiny. Still undergoing testing but display was working, and boot to Linux was underway.
