There are a few estimates about how many Raspberry Pi’s are floating around, some people will call this “market share” it ranges from 250,000 to 500,000 – at the recent Raspberry Pi hackerspace tour the foundation’s Rob Bishop said:

300K Pis in the contract...looks like about 50K per month (Liz's current article on their plant visit says "2500 per day"), so it appears to be about a 6 month contract. One presumes it can be renewed if demand stays high...

Same here checked the site which had stock, ordered it and it was here the next day, this was about a week ago....

RS != Farnell.

RS misjudged demand and didn't line up enough SoCs for the 3rd calendar quarter.

Farnell is the distributor working with Sony's plant in Wales.

One presumes that, when they start showing up, RS' Rev. 2 boards will NOT say "Made in the UK".

Within a year of when, from today? A year from the original 29 February 2012 initial "order" date? A year from when they first started shipping in April 2012? Within calendar Year 2012? With multiple manufacturing sources (unless manufacturing in China ceases), it may be difficult to determine which will be the actual millionth board made. Plus, with test production units that are never delivered, will they count?

This isn't important in the big scheme of things and I'm sure Liz will let us know when the 1,000,000th board is manufactured, shipped, and who the lucky stiff will be that receives it (the Foundation itself, auctioned off, or given to a museum, perhaps?), but as that rag the National Enquirer says, "Enquiring minds want to know!"
