Heh... I can\'t understand the negative people here. I guess they just don\'t get that this garbage isn\'t the way to convince a company to \"fix\" things.

Trust me, Liz... You\'re just seeing this through the lens of the vocal minority- a VERY vocal one.

Big thankyous, props, and major kudos to all involved. As with so many here, I greatly appreciate it, too. :)

(And as for waiting, I\'m good at that. I was a Pandora pre-orderer - we\'re some of the most patient people on the planet! ;) Once the RPi is available, I\'ll surely be buying and donating at least a couple!)

Seriously who the hell is having a go at Broadcom/R-Pi? They\'re doing an outstanding job with the time and resources they have. Some people just need a few light slams every now and then.

It is obvious that a huge amount of support has been provided by Broadcom to make the project happen. I don\'t know if Broadcom has ever done anything like this before, but if not then we should be supporting them as much as possible to ensure it is as useful to them and encourage them to do more things like it.
Thank you!

I don\'t they have done anything like this. They do have a charitable foundation and do have various schemes for employee\'s children (although only in the States at the moment). You can see the website for more information on their non-work related activities. Although Raspi isn\'t officially one of them!

Maybe we need a list of what Broadcom has done so it is fully appreciated. We know they\'ve offered the SoC at a \'good price\' and have allowed staff to work on the R-Pi project in their spare time but I\'m guessing there\'s more which deserves praise.

sometimes a business just needs to be allowed to do something nice without letting everyone know about it. ;)

Also I think y\'all should take a look at all the people who have continually bashed the broadcom issue and put them at the bottom of the waiting list when the boards get released, call it something like hypocrisy process and handling time :P :P :P (That\'s a joke, I say a joke son) (which for those who didn\'t grow up on Loony Tunes)

Sadly, Sophie hasn\'t worked on the Pi or even the SoC in it - she is on the ADSL team, who in fact have just moved to a different building to the Videocore team.

That said, she\'s still a heroine of mine and without her I wouldn\'t be where I am today (I\'m looking at you BBC micro)

Raspberry Pi, one of the reasons why I accepted a job offer from Broadcom 30 minutes ago.

Blimey! Very good to hear - which office will you be working from? Although not a Broadcom employee myself I do tend to travel with Eben when he\'s being peripatetic, and we\'ll almost certainly be in an office near you in the next couple of months. Let me know where it is, and we\'ll drop in and say hi!

I don\'t log in much, post less, but pop in everyday. What the Pi team is doing with their intellectual property from Broadcom, I can\'t express in words how appreciative I am. I have been kicking around a couple of ideas, but the bottom line, the hardware costs were prohibitive when compared to Chinese imports, you just can\'t complete. But the Pi is a game changer. If the \"Pi\" foundation was looking to kick start innovation and creativity, I am positively sure this will be an enabler....Thank you.

Big thumbs up to all. I\'m sure there must be some tangible benefit for Broadcom to gain from any association with a project like this, beyond simple altruism. But I wouldn\'t ever begrudge them that, for the simple fact that the donation of IP and employee time is immensly generous, and will further a very good cause for years to come.
