I2C works on my old Pi but not on new one

Thu Sep 20, 2012 6:46 pm

Hi,

I have one old Pi (no mounting holes) and one new one.
Using the same SD card in the OLD one and doing:

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe i2c-dev
sudo modprobe i2c-bcm2708
sudo i2cdetect -y 0
And my I2C device shows up in the list and works - great!

If I swap the Pi for the new Pi. Same SD card, same hardware attached to the cobbler. Literally I just swap the Pi out for the new one and run the same commands, it no longer detects the device.

Has something changed in the new generation Pi? or have I just got a duff one?

Anyone else had this problem?

Anyone got positive confirmation that I2C is okay on the new boards?

Gotta remember that in the rev2 board the i2c pins have been switched with some of the others... No idea why they did... Or what they changed it to.... Search the archives for the rev2 announcement.

Hope this helps!
