Can my pi do this?

Wed Mar 29, 2017 9:08 am

OK, So I am currently awaiting the delivery of my first pi, a model B, seemingly 2011, 512mb ram.

I have a few plans for it, and wonder if it would be stretching its capabilities.

I would be primarily using it as a "jump box" so I could dial into it from anywhere in the world, and then either access files (so I can upload them to the web, or just file transfer them).

I would also be looking to use it as a VNC box, so I could remotely control another device in the house, so for example, if TeamViewer on my laptop died, I would try and access it via VNC from the pi to just restart the service.

Would this likely be achievable with the Pi?

Hi,

Do you mean an original Pi model B (I think they were first released in 2012 - with 256MB of mem?) - or do you mean a Pi2B or Pi3B - the current model?

Well, the sale actually fell through so I am not getting the model B.

That said, I just bought two other devices, one apparently is the Pi 3 and another is a model B+.

I guess the 3 would be better served to handle this, but would the B+ v1.2?
