The drivers I compile were installed on Dropbox but they have made a major change to their web site and its really screwed things up. Really annoying to say the least so I have moved the drivers to a new site. You will need to download and install a new script to use the new site.

Download and install the new version of the script with commands

Code: Select all

sudo wget http://www.fars-robotics.net/install-wifi -O /usr/bin/install-wifi
sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/install-wifi
The command

Code: Select all

sudo install-wifi -h
will show details on using it.

To install the driver on your current kernel you should just need to run command

Code: Select all

sudo install-wifi
This will select the driver you need and automatically download and install it.

Once you get WiFi working, reconnect after reboot should happen automagically, as long as your AP is within range of your Raspberry.

Many, many thanks. From other searches, I knew MrEngman was generously helping the community like this. The driver worked on the first try with no missteps. I can't give a full throated endorsement of this USB WiFi dongle. The performance was seriously not good on both my Windows and Ubuntu laptops. On a Pi3 however, this dongle with this driver are fantastic.

Yeah, thanks, but I already found another way, and just had to follow an outline to compile the drivers more manually myself.

What a Bozo mistake this was. I am not even sure today why I purchased this as I have lots of other wifi dongles that just work without a lot of BS. Even on my fixed, retired budget, I have better ways to waste my time than to fool around getting a POS like this to work. I have a lot of dongles that work out-of- the-box with Linux and Raspbian...don't need this garbage or anything else this bogus company markets. Never again, Tp-Link, forever to be known by me as Toilet Paper Link.
