Boots, keyboard and mouse dead, no IP

Hello all, I have scanned the forums and did not find an answer so here it is:

First boot, after the rainbow and lots of lines flying by I get the rasp-config on the screen but cannot do anything with a keyboard.

I first booted with just a keyboard and get the menu. Nothing works, no numlock lite or anything.
Then I added the mouse, and as I expected nothing different.
Next I added the Ethernet cable and the same thing but I also checked the router and see nothing in the DHCP Table.

I am using 2012-08-16-wheezy-raspbian
Installed with win32diskimager on a 16G Samsung SD Card.
The power supply is a 1.5A USB Power supply.
The keyboard, two do the same, are HP USB Keyboards.
The mouse is an unknow brand optical mouse.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, I have two Pi's and they both react the same.
One more thing, re-downloaded the file, unzipped it and re-loaded it on the SD again.

Thanks in advance if you have anything.

Tim

I'd go for a different PSU first, then try a different brand USB keyboard. Don't even bother with ethernet or mouse until you get the keyboard working.

Have you Checked TP! to TP2 Voltage?
http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting# ... r_problems

Which Version do you have?
Are the polyfuse mounted beneath the LED'S, or are there 0R Resistiors or is there the mounting hole.

If there are no polyfuses, then there should be less problems with keyboard power requirements.

I didn't think the Ethernet would come up until I had finished the config but could not find any reference to that. I figured I would note that just in case it was important (and I tried it because I wanted it to work but did not expect it to).

I did check the voltage between TP1 and TP2, 4.8 Volts. I read that was good. My version has two 0000 resistors it looks like where the fuses would be.

Now that everyone is talking about it, I noticed that these keyboard do have a hub to plug the mouse into, time to go pick up a dirt cheap, basic keyboard.

I'm surprised how sensitive the Pi is to USB devices, but I guess when you have a credit card rather than a breadbox, things are special.

Off to the store for a keyboard.

Thanks everyone. This community is great, I hope to get far enough along to contribute back very soon.
