Project on Project ???

Well HI all from Windsor Ontario Canada, 1st time user with the RPi and just love this thing. My first project was to update it! lol ok just kidding, this language is all new to me so quite a bit of reading and feeling good so far. OK my first project was to allow me to view my Ubiquiti UniFi NVR cameras as the NVR has no ability to plug into it and view via monitor so just stuck with the Laptop to view and phone, I found a project that allowed a matrix pulling the RSTP feeds into the Pi and it just looks amazing !

this is where I'm a little confused, I want to try and do another project ( weather smart monitor in the kitchen ) yes there is quite a few out there, BUT how do I go about starting this new project #2, do I wipe the Pi and start fresh? do I somehow create a new user login like windows ? do I pull the data off the SD card and keep on my laptop and start a new project?

for a 1 Pi person what is the best action for me to take in this matter, I would love to keep the project intact that I have on it now as I know it works and would love to get a 2nd Pi to put it on!

thanks all in advance !

Hi and welcome to the forum.
One simple option is to get another SD for your new project. Everything, software and configuration -wise is stored on the SD card. So if you want to swap between projects, (allowing for any hardware attached differences), you just need to power down the pi, swap over the SD card, and repower the pi.
Another option is to get another Pi ;)
Hope this helps,
Texy

Well thank you! I assumed like an operating system on a Computer you were not able to swap Harddrive OS's ! BUT perfect ! my Pi was pre-configured by CanaKit so now would be a great time for me to also learn the initial setup side of the OS ! thanks again!
