Would someone please let me know if the WD PiDrive Foundation edition (375 Gig) requires a separate power supply and if so what I should buy. Thank you.

Yes. Buy the WD 5V 3A supply with the appropriate adapter for your local electrical standard sockets.TonyHoldroyd wrote:Would someone please let me know if the WD PiDrive Foundation edition (375 Gig) requires a separate power supply and if so what I should buy. Thank you.
Okay, thanks for that. I'm new to the Pi (3B) and to the forum and appreciate your rapid response.Ernst wrote:It depends on your Pi, the powersupply and the cable, in general the answer is that you do not need a separate power supply for the PiDrive.
The standard 5.1V 2.5A power supply, with / without the WD cable, on a Pi 3 will work without a problem. The WD power supply with the WD cable may give power low power warning but still works ok.
OKay, thank you for the advicealphanumeric wrote:I'm with Dougie, buy the WD 3A power pack kit with the Pi Drive cable. Then you can run them both from the one Power Pack with no worries.
