Will the supply exceed demand for the first batch? I hope that it wouldn\'t sell out in the first day or something.

Most likely not. There will be less than 100 boards in the first batch.

Less than 100? I thought it was 10,000?

The first hundred boards are to verify the latest PCB design, as shown on home page. If all is well, RasPi has enough parts on hand to manufacture 10,000 so the delay to general availability should be short. The first 100 will probably be auctioned off to raise money for the charity.

John\'s information is spot on! The 100 non-populated boards they initial purchased was just make sure it was functioning correctly. After all if you got all 10K only to discover that your ethernet jack spammed the network every time you drew full power for the device you\'d be out all that cash and the project would die in its tracks!

Once the boards have been thoroughly tested and confirmed to work they\'ll move to mass production. Based off a tweet from Liz, that will unfortunately be January. Which I know is a sadness to us all since we were all hoping for the optimistic November release, but it\'s much better to have to wait one more month and get a device that actually works over yet another iphone 4 (you\'re holding the phone wrong), the xbox 360 (those red lights weren\'t at all festive!), or *shudder* windows vista (...everything).
Dear forum: Play nice ;-)
