A new paradigm in multichannel audio is coming to the Pi

A new paradigm in multichannel audio is coming to the Pi. It is also a revolution in audio communications, and we want you to be part of it!
We are empowering you and your projects to have more than two channels of audio over the GPIO header of the Raspberry Pi - in fact you can get up to 8 out and 6 in.
How did we do it ? This world first approach operates the audio subsystem of microcontrollers more efficiently then ever before.

We are in our last 24 hours of this kickstarter campaign and have (so far) achieved 2 extra stretch goals - which add extra functionality and access to this fantastic product.

If you need this product, are interested or even sitting on the fence, come check out the Pi's first GPIO based multitrack sound card.

thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

Can you explain some of the benefits/applications of the powered balanced breakouts board? I've pledged for an RCA breakouts version and considering upgrading that. I'm just wondering what additional benefits the TRS breakout board might deliver?

Hi KTB,

Thanks for pledging !

The TRS boards are for professional grade sound quality. They are balanced and powered. What this means is that they have active filters which keep distortion low. Because they are balanced, they are able to keep noise very low.

This means that if you require professional performance, you can get it with the TRS breakout boards. If you don't need this quality and can settle for something which lets you plug RCA to RCA, then you may not want that functionality.

I will add, that the TRS breakout pledge on kickstarter includes the RCA breakout boards as well, so you can't loose !

thanks again
Matt

I received my Octo sound card today (with only RCA breakouts for now). I've only been testing playing music so far, but the sound is excellent! Congratulations to flatmax on a job well done!

It isn't yet possible to order these. The Kickstarter campaign is over. Most backers have probably received the Octo with RCA breakouts. The balanced TRS breakouts should be delivered by the end of this month.

They will most likely be for sale on Amazon fairly soon after they are done with shipping out everything to Kickstarter backers.

I definitively wanna try these ! I have trouble understanding how that could even works without burning the rpi. That's a very wonderfull piece of engineering !
