RPI 3B WIFI - Dual Band or Not?

Fri Jan 06, 2017 8:41 pm

I have an RPI3 3B running OSMC, and a dual band WIFI network at home (2.4 and 5.0 GHz).
Now, when I use the on-board WIFI, my RPI detects ONLY the 2.4 GHz network. When I use an external/USB WIFI dongle, I can see both 2.4/5.0 GHz networks.

Is this normal? Is the RPI 3B only capable of running 2.4 GHz ?

Yes, the on-board wifi only runs with 2.4GHz

Thank You. I kinda 'suspected' it was this.
