Force Quit Kiosk on Touch Screen

Wed Dec 21, 2016 4:01 am

Does anyone know how to quit kiosk mode on a touch screen so the Pi can be shut down properly? Also, what is the best method to shutdown a Pi with a physical button/switch?

The whole point of kiosk mode is that the kiosk users can't shut the system down.

You either need to login on an ssh session or add hardware where a GPIO pin will trigger a sudo shutdown -h command. There's about 1,000,000 examples of doing that.

Stumbled upon a solution. Turns out if you tap on the touch screen right on the edge of where the menu bar would be the menu bar appears and you can access the main menu to shut down. This will work until I create a switch.
