Since 15.12.2016 the positional satellite system Galileo is in operation offering a finer resolution and is not controlled by the military.
I would like to see recommended receivers and tests for Galileo receivers please.
Galileo has only just been turned on properly, this week I believe! So not really surprising there are not too many receivers about. Supposed to be very accurate. 1cm IIRC.Ronaldlees wrote:Seems to be a dearth of information about Galileo capable receivers. There also seems to be a bit of sabre rattling by patent holders, so maybe that's the catch.
I notice the Ebay unit says that Galileo is "under construction" - so probably needs a future firmware update to actually do Galileo. Or not? Any Galileo experts on the forum?
Thanks Gordon, I did not know that....I'll need to get much more information. 1 Metre is fine with me...I wonder what the 1cmGordonTGopher wrote:1cm accuracy will be encrypted (paid for) service, public service is 1m accuracy I believe.
There is supposed to be interoperability with the US GPS system, but this will depend on firmware / software supporting both systems. It's also worth noting that GNSS (Galileo) is only in IOC (Initial Operating Capability) with around half the planned satellites in orbit, so coverage / accuracy may be poor until all 30 are launched.
