X Hardware Acceleration Driver Status

Sat Sep 08, 2012 5:37 pm

Does anyone know the current state of development for the hardware accelerated X window drivers? Are there any developers who have publicly announced they are working on them?

I'm looking to set up a computing lab for our local scout group with 15 raspberry pi workstations, and this would really help make them a lot more usable for web browsing. :)

Here's the primary thread where X hardware acceleration is being discussed. The last page of posts includes links to on-line repositories for very pre-alpha code that is functionally incomplete and what is there may need debugging:

There is also a work on DirectFB (http://directfb.org/):

Wayland would of course be very exciting to have running on the Raspberry Pi:

So there is lots of activity going on.
