Pi as Wireless Adapter

Mon Nov 28, 2016 5:58 pm

Can the Raspberry Pi 3 be used as a wireless adapter? Can it be configured such that the computers connected to it through USB access the Wireless Card on board the Pi?

Greetings.

I think you could get a quite good retail wireless adapter with 35 USD, so is there any reason to use the Pi as a wireless adapter?

Pi is a full computer. Your question is like this: could I connect to another computer's wireless adapter? I think the answer would be: why not just plug that adapter into your own computer?

Pi 3's wireless adapter is on board, it can not be detached.

A switch device would connect several computers together. And a router device is used to connect to Internet.

Pi could be configured to work as a router and as a switch in the same time. It would cost more than a retail device. However it would be more fun and difficult.
