Yes, that's the right way to disable direct connections. To enable cloud connections, you need to go to the "Licensing" option in the menu and sign in with a RealVNC account, or sign up if you don't have one - it's free for personal use.

It's also possible to setup multi factor authentication using the free edition on Raspberry Pi.

Hello sconemad,

Thank you very much for the reply and the kind advice. That worked; however, I had to delete the fist instance of the connection on VNC Viewer, and to create a new instance/ connection, or at least, that is what I ended up doing to get the connection not to time out.

As long as the syslog isn't showing and further unwanted attempted break ins, is it necessary/ recommended to setup multi factor authentication?
