Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - no green light [solved]

Mon Nov 07, 2016 7:49 pm

Hi.

I have a brand new Raspberry Pi 3 - Model B that won't boot. I only see a red light and nothing else. It doesn't recognize the keyboard or the mouse or monitor. I downloaded the latest version of NOOBS and placed it on the MicroSD but nothing.

I am using my Android Samsung Note 4 charger which has

OUTPUT: 5.0V 2.0A. I know that the RPI requires 5.0V with 2.4A but I am sure if the 2.0A is causing the issue.

Is it possible that my raspberry pi is faulty?

Your problem is probably the sd card. Did you install NOOBS correctly?

I was playing with the Pi last night and noticed a green light blinking with or without the SD card in it. Not sure what that means.

One thing I forgot to mention that I am using this cheap HDMI Male To VGA Female Video Adapter Cable.

HDMI Male To VGA Female Video Adapter Cable link:

Based on what I've been reading looks like I need a reliable HDMI to VGA converter. Anyone know of that that works with the Pi?

Thank you!

Yes those Cables are total crap, you need an adaptor like:

"This item does not ship to the United States."

This one looks compatible. Good reviews. I can get it in the USA.

I bought a HDMI to VGA converter from Amazon and it works great now.

Thanks
