How do you duplicate the pi account?

Tue Nov 01, 2016 10:51 pm

I wanted to know how to create another account that has the same permissions as pi but not full root. This is to solve an issue with Kodi but at the same time still allow other applications to still work while not being full roots. Any ideas on how the default account is configured?

After creating your new user account add it to all the same groups as the "pi" user.

Code: Select all

sudo usermod -G adm,dialout,cdrom,sudo,audio,video,plugdev,games,users,input,netdev,spi,i2c,gpio {username}
Then you edit /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/60-desktop-policy.conf to add your new user (this file may not exist in the Lite version).

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/60-desktop-policy.conf
And finally, you add your user to sudoers.

Code: Select all

sudo visudo -f /etc/sudoers.d/010_pi-nopasswd
Or you could create a new file for your user instead of editing the 010_pi-nopasswd file.

Code: Select all

sudo visudo -f /etc/sudoers.d/020_{username}-nopasswd
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?
