It's an issue with the API keys that got overloaded and disabled. A new release is coming soon.

Already said in another thread, but the issue has been solved and an update will fix it. This also adds support for widevine if you need it.

Wait how did you apply this patch already? Has the update already been released, cause I just updated chromium on my raspberry pi 3 model B and it still won't let me sign in and sync?

I just finished running all of those commands, but chromium-browser is still telling me "Service unavailable"

Just a suggestion but you could try uninstalling then reinstalling it and see if that helps. Anybody else have a better suggestion?

51.0.2704.91-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.7012 is the version listed in Synaptic Package Manager as latest from RPF, I am running Jessie with Pixel fully updated on a RPi ZERO.

Nope, still no joy.

After fully updating/upgrading/dist-upgrade uninstalling/purging and reinstalling chromium-browser, I still getting the "Uh-Oh...service unavailable" message.

Am I missing anything?

How did you find that version? I checked synaptic package manager as you mentioned earlier, and I'm still getting this chromium version: 51.0.2704.106.

Is there another way to access the older one that you have, because this latest one doesn't let me sign in. Or maybe I didn't install synaptic correctly? idk.. im pretty new to the pi

Remove the source relating to Ubuntu (something like launchpad) because those instructions were flawed. Then

sudo apt-get purge chromium-browser
sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

The bit about removing the Ubuntu related source entry finally did it. Works now with the version you mentioned.

I'm also new to Raspberry Pi. I followed the directions above and it keeps re-installing Chromium 51.0.2704.91
when I enter this code in:

I get this:

Nothing about Ubuntu sources. What am I doing wrong?

That's correct. That's the version you should be on. No problems there.

So, if that's all set. When I run:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get purge chromium-browser -y
sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

It installs the same version of Chromium (51.0.2704.91). Anything else I'm missing?
I actually did this yesterday and got it to work. Then, today I messed up my video settings, so I re-formatted my SD and re-installed NOOBS. Now, I can't seem to get it to install the newer Chromium version

That is the newer version of chromium. There is absolutely no problems with that version and it is the latest. Any reason you're working about that?

I kept getting "service unavailable" yesterday, but I wonder if that was from the internet outages yesterday. Works great now.
