Hi,

Ive just received the plug n play kit with a 7 port usb hub (the cit one with horrendous leds). Im having a nightmare getting the hub recognised. My own 4 port works fine so I dontbknow if I'm doing something wrong or if theres a fault with the hub. Any ideas?

Is this a powered USB hub, inside this kit, and will (if not powered) work with raspberry pi?

It is a powered hub, however it is not intended to be used to power the Raspberry Pi, the kit includes a separate 5V 1A microUSB PSU for the purpose of powering the Pi. The hub is intended to allow the user to attach additional USB devices to the Pi without adding additional power load onto the Pi’s USB

just received xbmc starter kit and mini wireless keyboard, setting it up it went into update and never completed, just rainbow screen. I downloaded a new raspbmc onto another card and it booted and did update ok, but now the k/b won't communicate, it will only work with a wired usb k/b, there is no light on the wipi dongle despite reboots etc. the yellow led on the k/b flickers but no reaction, it did initially work out of the box and is charged ok, another wipi is the same. Is there a config for wifi k/b somewhere ?

any ideas please ?

Hi thanks for this info. Can you confirm that the wireless keyboard works on another device such a PC or laptop. We have tested both the wireless keyboard and WiPi dongle and can confirm it does not require any manual load of drivers/config etc. There are many problems they may have occured whilst it was doing the update such as a corrupt SD card/Kernal or power issues. If you can't get anything to work then Email your details over to facebook@cpc.co.uk and we can arrange a replacement for you.

Just to let you know your website is broken making it difficult to buy a Pi.

Searches for raspberry pi seem to be hijacked by a special rule search system and taken to a Pi specific page at http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/bespoke/besp ... irect=true. That page has links labeled "buy a ready made kit" and "make your own kit" but neither actually works.

There is a link to a PDF of the makertech brochure which contains working stock codes but it really shouldn't be nessacery to go down that route.

An embarsingly old version of iceweasel on a rather screwy mixture of debian versions. I could upgrade but i'm kinda reluctant because they remove the "properties" option from the right click menu on links.

I've just tried it in chrome and it works there.

Ah that would explain it. I suppose it makes sense that the Raspberry Pi section of CPC should be browsable using a Raspberry Pi.

That link & several other cpc links work just fine & quickly here using luakit on my RPi.

There is the WiPi Wireless USB dongle (SC1276119) @ £12 and the Dynamode WL-700-RXS Nano USB adaptor (CS2411619) @ £6.35
I've had a look on the RPi Wiki to see if i can find any info regarding these WiFi dongles. The Nano dongle is more discrete and cheaper, but I'm unsure which to buy.
Can you suggest which will be the most "plug-and-play" with Raspbian, OpenELEC and SqueezeBOX

Both Wireless USB adaptors will work using Plug and Play. We of course always recommend using the WiPi Dongle (SC1276119) as this is backed and fully tested by the Raspberry Pi foundation. If your after something discreet for your projects then of course the Nano dongle (CS2411619) will be fine. Both Wireless adaptors have similar specification and will operate in the same way.

The terminals that go on the end on the end of a wire come in two peices. The terminal and the shell. Shells come in a variety of sizes.

Unfortunately single position shells seem to be difficult to find at a reasonable price. CPC don't seem to sell them at all. Farnell sell them but at a price that is far higher than I think is reasonable ( http://uk.farnell.com/fci/65039-036lf/c ... dp/2112430 ). Mouser sell them at a more reasonable price ( http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Harw ... BWBb6hA%3d ) but the small order delivery charges are a killer.

Looks like its the WiPi if the foundation are backing it. Time for a trip to the trade counter (again!)
