I hope this trend continues.

That's an impressive achievement. I had noted Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd's financial statement for year end 2015; gross profit of £6.5 million which, after administrative expenses of £2.8 million, meant a gift aid payment to the Raspberry Pi Foundation of £3.5 million. Well done everyone.

So if one assumes about 3 million Pis during 2015, that suggests a royalty of about 2GPB per Pi. Much less for Pi Zeros, of course, but possibly more for the CM and who knows what--but probably more--on the RPF 7" display. Or put another way, the RPT gets about 10% of gross sales amount. That's very, very reasonable.

CM3 release approaching Xmas is the rumour.

The bash as the Houses of Parliament yesterday was good fun - met some other mods, and David Braben (Hero!), Rory Cellan-Jones was there too, along with lots of RPF staff, some Broadcom people, and reps from Farnell and RS. Had a long chat with the head of something PI at RS, nice bloke. Then the head of Premier for Pi came along and they exchanged cards - surreal! I did ask if they were allowed to talk to each other!

£3.5M was quoted as profit last year, hoping for £7M or so in the next year.

I'm sure Liz will provide a better report on the event at some point!

I suppose it depends on what it takes to call something "approaching Xmas." If you go by US retailers, we're practically there now....

Okay...now *that's* an interesting teaser!

What I find interesting is that shortly afterwards, they agreed to vacate the HP for some Billions of pounds-worth of renovation ... so what exactly did you do, while you were there?

At a guess...the SoC for the Pi4 has already been designed and is now in the process of getting prototypes made and tested to see what needs to be fixed for next iteration. (And the designers may already be past the first iteration and working on a later one.)

This really goes back to a common problem on the Forums. People tend to seriously underestimate just how long it takes to develop hardware and software. Far too many people appear to think that "we are working on product X" means that product X will be on the shelves ready to buy (or download) in a matter of days to two or three weeks. There are more stages to developing products, and each stage takes longer, than most people think. I try to play my estimates conservatively and I still get caught out expecting results sooner than they appear.

Has somebody been teaching our politicians bash?

This could bring the entire government system to it's knees as they struggle for months to get to grips with the subtleties of quoting, escape sequences and so on.

I think they're already struggling with a certain "escape sequence"

They're using it in Windows 10, so their hands are being held as they do it.

We live and have always lived in a plutocracy, but our masters want to be seen as benevolent, so allow us a small amount of democracy, they also want us to thrive enough so we don't revolt, thus making them open to suggestion from the bottom of society like ex borstal boys, Raspberry Pi has interested them because it is a way for the young and the feral to find a path within society and thus keep the status quo. they don't need an escape sequence.

PS: the light of favor does shine on raspberry pi at the moment, but life is short and nothing last for ever, do not throw this opportunity away, you will not get it again. behave and make the new and young feel welcome, drop all that elitist stuff some of you project.
