DTS/AC3 hardware decoding is possible in Rpi??.

Yes it is. All ready to go for omxplayer and xbmc.
Unfortunately DTS requires compliance testing before we can licence it. We're investigating that.

Also wondering if this is still in the works. I've got Openelec running full BD rips with DTS that almost, almost gets there but still stutters periodically when downconverting. That being said, I'm overclocking ARM over 1000, Core over 500 and SDRAM at 600 to make it work.

I'll continue to try and optimize the overclock, but I'd definitely be wiling to pay a few bucks for a hardware decode license so I could run this at more moderate overclock settings.

Any update from the RPi team?

is this the same as 'down mixing' so you can hear the voices properly or is this the same stuff as the dts ma stuff

alright, if this is the same prob i was having with playing dts and not hearing the voices but hearing the music track really loud

We are fully aware that the downmixing has been fixed by dom which is great.

Now we need DTS hardware decoding..
The PI chokes on DTS decoding in its current form!

Just to say that Dolby TrueHD is a real Pi killer... not sure if it's the network bandwidth overhead, or the processing but it brings the Pi to its knees, unfortunately. If there's any scope to include this in hardware decode request list, please someone make a note...

There havent been a reply from the mods in a long time regarding this issue.
1) Could be due to technical problems/licensing problems with DTS
2) The RPi team have other priorities more important than this.

Lets hope its option number 2

There's no technical problems. The xbmc devs have had access to (for months) GPU DTS (and AC3) decode, and it works fine.
I believe the problem is that Eben has contacted (repeatedly) DTS/MPLA and said, "we have a DTS decoder and want to give you money", and got no response...

No, unfortunately no software decoders for those.

I think you misread my post. I wrote GPU and not CPU!
So i was wondering about hardware decoding, not software decoding!

If the DTS people haven't responded after repeated attempts then I wonder how feasible this idea is...

RPi publicly announces that they are going to start selling licenses fot DTS decoding, stating that they have tried to contact DTS with no reply. RPi then sells licenses, and squirrels away the proceeds for a time when/if the DTS people get in touch.

That ought to get the attention of the DTS folks and get DTS decoding into the hands of the users who are more than happy to pay the licence fee.

At least two problems come to mind:

1) It's probably illegal to sell a licence when you are not the legitimate licencee
2) The Foundation could end up selling the "licence" for an amount that turns out to be less than the MPAA are willing to accept, leaving the Foundation liable for the shortfall

Yep, surely some petitioning is in order. I'm *loathe* to start converting media files and have no appetite for external decoding. Stopping the Pi becoming the perfect little cost effective media player.
