Lighttpd doesn't restart after reboot.

Command line restart works fine. I even put /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart command in rc.local proceeded by a sleep 20 but it produced a "Starting web server: lighttpd failed!" message. Nothing in the lighttpd error log.

Running Rasbian Wheezy.

Any ideas? I'm about to stick a script in cron to keep it running.

Thanks,
Jim.

Read-up on what it takes to make any application code a service in systemd.

... systemd is the replacement for sysvinit. It is the 'new' init, and can be used to start everything including your coffee maker.

google how to make a systemd service.

Step 1: Upgrade to Jessie.

It's a remote site about 8 hours from here. I'm not going to upgrade to jessie any time soon. There is a file in /etc/init.d and it's being executed however the server aborts with no useful information.

Hi,
You verified error log?
/var/log/lighttpd/error.log

Or, check config syntax
lighttpd -t -f /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf
