Raspberry Pi 3 dead ?

Sat Jul 09, 2016 8:38 am

Hi,

Since yesterday my raspberry pi 3 doesn't boot. The red power led is on but the green one is always off.
I read that when the green led is off it's because of the SD card. So I tried to reformat it and reinstall raspbian.
But raspberry still doesn't boot. What should I do ?

Thanks.

I have read this, but I don't have any USB-A to USB-A cable to check if my windows PC detects the device.

Good because that doesn't work with a RPi3.

Are the red and green LEDs lighting? Try the power supply with your phone, does it charge it? Do you get any pictures on the TV? Can you get a fresh, unused, brand new SDCard and stick a copy of NOOBS on it?

Does anything get too hot to touch within seconds of powering up your RPi?

Thank for your reply !

Red LED is lighting but green isn't.
Yes, the power supply does charge my phone.
I don't get anything on the TV (no HDMI cable is detected).
I haven't got any other SD card with me.
And you're right, the last thing I forgot to mention is that the broadcom processor is very hot when I supply the raspberry pi,
that's what I'm afraid of...

your raspi is dead (((
I have several pi2 with the same symptom, almost all (perhaps all) died due the wrong wiring (5V to GPIO pin or so on)

If it's too hot with nothing running then it's 100% dead, call the funeral directors, dig a hole, prepare a coffin.

Only if you can prove it wasn't your fault or action that caused it.

I think it's because of the voltage of the power supply which was not stable

Your only hope of getting a warranty replacement is if you bought the Pi and PSU together, and the seller advertised the PSU as suitable.
