how can i donate one of my pi's to a poor country?

do you have an idea for how to donate them for educational purposes?

There is a saying "Charity begins at home".

Even if you are living in the richest country in the world, the USA say, I'm sure you can find deserving and enthusiastic kids nearby that could use some help getting a Pi.

I'm sure you can find kids of some Palastinian neighbors who would have trouble scraping together the shekels for a Pi and the few bits and bobs it needs to to use.

The poverty you find in "western countries" is shocking sometimes.

The Pi was designed as a toy to teach programming in rich countries where the family computer is too important for a child to experiment with. People who don't already have a computer can't even format an sdcard to get started with a Pi. The Pi also requires a high definition TV to use as a monitor. Low cost computer labs can be set up using Pi computers, but this also requires a certain level of expertise and additional resources. I think the advice to act locally, devoting your time as well as extra Pi, is good.

Yes. That is something I wanted to expound on. Throwing a Pi to some unknown place feeling good because it has gone to a "poor country" is quite likely useless.

Giving a Pi to a kid in the neighbour hood and following through with whatever happens next might be magical.
