Auto connecting to wifi for headless use.

For some reason all the ways to get my raspberry pi to connect to wifi using the auto connecting resources I found don't work. I have to manual go in click on wpa_gui and tell it to connect. Can some one help me out so I can get this thing running headless. Everything else is set up like the RDP service (XRDP) and it being on wireless.
