Just wondering about the rumored ability of the Pi3 to boot from a USB device. I have a project that could benefit from getting away from the SD card boot and associated failures of the SD card. Few weeks back had a SD card go up in smoke (literally) for no apparent reason. I have had other SD card failures due to memory corruption caused by power interruption.
Thanks,
Henry

Re: Current Status USB boot Rpi3?
I had an SD card go up in smoke recently as well. After it had been running for months.
I would never have imagined the harmless looking SD card could be so dangerous!

Memory in C++ is a leaky abstraction .

Take a look at https://github.com/raspberrypi/tools/tr ... er/usbboot and https://github.com/raspberrypi/tools/issues.
Upshot is (I think) that it needs some attention and will get some eventually
