Trick question. It is Jamie in fancy dress pretending to be a fork lift with 50 cardboard boxes!

It's actually an order of 20 leds from CPC.

250,000 to be manufactured, 4 distributors, 50 boxes here. I would guess about 1,000-1,500 per box.

A more accurate figure could be ascertained by calculating the size of each box from the size of the pallet. I can't remember the exact size of a zero off-hand but at 3" x 1" x 1/4" there would be around 2,000 per cubic foot.

IFIFY.

Maybe we get to find out the new feature today?

They would not ship 20 leds in 42 boxes. I counted them. 4x4 + 4x4 + 3x3 + 1

It has to be my PiZero for the Ropecon 2016 convention in July (was about time that it arrives). All the other parts are here already.

Erm....

That's 4x5x2 + 3x3 + 1

Other interesting numbers:
Pallet size = 1200 x 1000 mm
Therefore each box is 300 x 200 mm and, by measuring the screen, it's as high as it is long: 300mm

Pi Zeros would fit into that in a 4x5 arrangement of racks with 1cm of packing between them. However the stacking density of those racks, how tightly they are packed flat-face to flat-face, can be solved any number of ways, There could be 100 (each board has 3mm), 75(4mm), 60(5mm), 50(6mm), 30(10mm) or 25(12mm) in a rack. The round figures there are 75 = 1,500 per box and 50 = 1,000 per box. To get 100 = 2,000 per box you would have to pack them every 3mm which feels too tight to me.

Not to say they are Pi Zeros of course; in fact 1cm of packing seems a lot to me. I'd expect that around the racks but not between them.

Thanks for the correction. Time to get a bigger screen or glasses.

I already have two PiZeros in use but I still need one PiZero - DiscoCap combo for the Ropecon 2016 convention to run Hero Quest (a Jessie version built on Allegro). An oldie board game for kids around 10 years or so. If you still feel like a child and happen to be around at the end of July then drop in for a game.

Seems a standard pallet is 1000mm x 1200mm, 40" x 48", which would seem to put the boxes at around 12" x 9" x 10", so I lower my estimate to 1,000 per box. Which values that pile around £210K inc VAT.

If you sat through a live youtube stream of three blokes eating biscuits yesterday, you will have learned two Zero-related things:
1. A bourbon biscuit is roughly the same size as a Zero
2. Pimoroni et al are selling them on Monday...

So apart from knowing what the extra 'feature' is, another question will be 'are there buying restrictions' ?
