Power off message?

I know that the Raspberry Pi has no power off switch. That you should shutdown your operating system, and only when shutdown has finished, you should turn off or disconnect your power adapter.

But we are using Raspbian with GUI, and when our users shutdown the OS, they only see a black screen.

There is any way of stoping processes, syncing the MicroSD, and show message in the GUI?. Something like "Now you can disconnect your power adapter".

I look at the led icons on Pi3, and power light on monitor.

Monitor light goes orange
LED's go solid red and solid green

Then I flip the power off switch on surge protector desktop strip that the monitor and Pi3 are plugged into.

Version 4.4.8 and later of the kernel (not included on the latest Jessie image, only if you run rpi-update) have changed the led behaviour to match that of earlier Pis.
After syncing, the green led will flash 10 times then switch off entirely to indicate clean shutdown.

Make sure you have a recovery backup ready Because you may not be able to boot.

Yep the flashing green led, then off status is ok for determining "safe to power off" cue.

4.4.9 is current

I just did a rpi-update, no issues so far, and all the customization i did to the OS, seem to also be intact and unbroken.

All GUI changes are still in effect, Lockscreen, & Lockscreen keyboard binding capability, and the screensaver/screen blanking disablement all still functional, MOC (MP3 Player) and analog audio still functional...still checking the rest (OMXPLayer mod, Chromium 48, overclocks, etc).
