Was this too easy?

I am a newbie. I bought my Raspberry Pi 3 via a MCM Media Center kit. When I made all my connections and lastly plugged in the power, it booted up flawlessly and within seconds showed a Raspberry logo on the screen with a menu at upper left. I was never prompted to select an operating system, I was never prompted for a username, I was never prompted for a password, and I never was offered an opportunity to type "startx". I never had to sit and wait for 20 or more minutes for Raspian to load.

My question is: "Am I there?" And "Was that way too easy?"

Don't worry as everything is ok. This is the default 'first boot' configuration
for raspbian. If you click on menu then put your mouse pointer on Preferences
you can select Raspberry Pi Configuration and change the way it boots up
if this is what you want.

Edit: Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.

It was a kit, so it is ready to start up. But I'm sure there is plenty of room to find ways to have issues depending on whatever it is your want to actually do with the pi.

You'll never be "there" - there's always something more you can think of to learn and figure out how to get your Pi to do :D

Before the easy start hits a wall: make sure you expand the file system (if you haven't already).

If they send you a kit that has the content already on the sdcard, surely they aren't going to not bother to expand the file system, right, right?

The Pi was designed to be easy for beginners to start coding and you seem to have experienced the perfect experience. It's changed a lot. But don't be fooled by the simple exterior, behind all of that is a very powerful and sometimes complex interior which will be sure to keep you busy.

Expand the partitions now , before you install things.

This forum is full of problem reports because people without
them wouldn't come here in the first place. This leads
to confirmation bias. Ask your dealers garage on how all
models from the very maker they service are utter trash.

you asking for getting trouble?
or maybe you are in the matrix...
you think it is a RPi you are playing with...
(similar to: "Do you think that's air you're breathing?")
