Running Android Apps (.apk) on RPi?

Mon Apr 25, 2016 8:46 am

Hi Guys,

I have RPi 2B (and now also going to buy RPi 3) I wish to run my own Android App (.apk) on RPi (with a touch screen attached. This is another headache story). I've found a few ways (hacks) to achieve this, which are as below.

1. Install Android OS on RPi
2. Install Chrome OS on RPi
3. Install ARChon in Chrome Browser on RPi Linux OS directly

The 2nd approach might not be a choice for me because i'm going to run Apache + MySQL also. These are more easy to do in base RPi Linux directly of course, and also in Android OS even because there are Apps for that.

There might still be other approaches. But anyway, i would like to know which is the most recommended way "to run Android App from my (.apk) on RPi".

;) Thanks all =)

If you want to run an *.apk then sell your RPi and use the money you make from the sale to buy a tablet or phone or phablet.

You can't run Android or chromeOS on a RPi they are not supported except by a few folks who like hitting their heads against walls. The experimental versions may boot OK, but they are not usable.

There's also no commitment to support either of those from the RPF or from the volunteers who man the forum.

Not exactly hitting our heads against walls, as the effort needed with the anholt driver is nil(the problem is getting *that* driver ready now)

I'd say it's not even reached alpha.
