On Screen Keyboard for Touchscreen

Sat Apr 23, 2016 3:02 pm

Ok so I have a touchscreen which is working great, I'm looking to implement a good on screen keyboard.

I've looked at 'matchbox-keyboard' and it seems to work ok, after I added this to ~/.config/lxpanel/LXDE-pi/panels/panel

Code: Select all

    Button {
      id=/usr/share/applications/inputmethods/matchbox-keyboard.desktop
    }
I can now see a keyboard shortcut on the top tool bar. However the page that lead me to this said tapping the button once will open it and tapping it again will close it. This doesn't work for me, if I tap it again it opens another instance of the keyboard. So I'm wondering if there is any thing else I need to do to make this work as required.

Also interested to see if anyone else has any suggestions on alternative keyboard. I'm not bothered for a number pad or anything, just want a decent input device.

Kind Regards

I'm now using Florence - info - http://xmodulo.com/onscreen-virtual-keyboard-linux.html

Much better than matchbox keyboard.
