[VIDEO]RaspBerry Pi Running... SuperTux

Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi everyone!

Let's introduce myself. I'm a French 14 years old boy and a lucky owner of a RaspBerry Pi. I just uploaded a video on my YouTube channel who show the game called SuperTux working on my RaspBerry Pi. Maybe it'll become a series of videos, maybe not, it depend of my motivation and of the games or applications I found to run on the RaspBerry Pi. For now, in this video, you will just see SuperTux. It's an old platform game, which is like Mario, but with penguins, snowballs, frozen cubes... A very funny and addictive game.

Here's the link to the video: http://youtu.be/IEqZDHZtnrg?hd=1
Available in 1080 px. =)

Enjoy trying this game!

PS: Sorry for my bad English, the whole English I know, I learned it on my computer.

Maybe you could make a video series about games starring Tux, eg.: Tux Racer.

Thanks for this! I tested it yesterday, and the game ran just fine, but I had huge black borders when I ran the game. (The desktop itself does not have this problem. I can post a screenshot of it later if you want to see. Any way to fix this? Running fully updated Raspbian.

Alvaro: do you use HDMI or RCA composite for video output? Also, what resolution do you use?

Sorry, forgot to follow this topic.

HDMI output and 1920x1080 resolution:

state: HPD high|HDMI mode|HDCP off|composite off (0x12001a), 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, progressive

I think it's because the game was made for 4:3 screens. I use HDMI output with a 1024*768 screen resolution and it work very well, as you can see in the video.

What is the timing limitation of the composite output?

I have been looking everywhere, but have yet to find the technical limitations of the RCA output. I'd like to try using it to generate the Y signal for component video signals. it could be used for a frame-buffered monochrome green screen display.

Your written English is better than I've seen from many native speakers.

Good work with the SuperTux game, I am impressed.
