Fri Apr 15, 2016 12:58 pm

TeamViewer has just launched a TeamViewer Host for Raspbian 8.0 solution.

We are challenging interested developers to submit concepts and prototypes focused on IoT.
For detailed information please go to https://www.teamviewer.com/iotcontest/.

A big THANK YOU to Emily Johnson from the Raspberry Pi Foundation for allowing TeamViewer announce the contest in this forum!

I'll definitely check it out. Why not throwing in teamviewer licenses as prizes as well? Cheap for you to give out and expensive for someone else pay for. Say #3 will choose between 250 Euros or a license of teamviewer. This might help the non-EU entries as well.

Is this the right place to ask tech questions? I have one but don't want to ask in public fearing someone will steal my entry ;)

We recommend either the Slack Team to talk directly to our developers regarding tech questions (in a private conversation if you prefer) or just send an email to iotcontest@teamviewer.com and we will get back to you. But this might take some time due to the weekend.

Depending on the input we might give away further prizes, check the Terms and Regulations for that. For non-EU submissions there might be legal issues, this is why entrants won't be eligable for the prizes. But also here, if we like an idea very much, we will look for a way to reward it.

Thanks. I found a copy of TeamViewer's API doc. Does this apply to the RPI client as well?

Since the Host currently is only released as a preview, there is no documentation yet. But we are working on it.

According to your signature, you only give negative feedback. So first of all let me thank you for the exception. ;)

Unique IDs are going to be available forever, alltough we started distributing 10 digit IDs some while back.

@Raspberry Pi forum moderators:  i think it would be a good idea to make this thread sticky, until the contest is over. otherwise that contest announcement will drop down very quick.

I'm using jessie on RPi2. When I tried to install this preview Teamviewer, there are many dependencies not met. I've not been able to find installation instructions.

Thank you for this post. Usually the deb file should also install all of the dependencies, but some others users encountered the same error as you did. That's why we had set up our slack team, where our coders are able to directly interact with you. You can find it here: https://teamvieweriotcontest.slack.com/ ... s/general/.

But to make it short, here is the code they posted:

Code: Select all

wget http://download.teamviewer.com/download/linux/version_11x/teamviewer-host_armhf.deb
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libqt5gui5 libqt5qml5 libqt5quick5 libqt5webkit5 libqt5qml5 libqt5core5a qml-module-qtquick-controls qml-module-qtquick2 libqt5widgets5
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo dpkg -i teamviewer-host_armhf.deb
# then either:
# teamviewer # start interactive session (GUI)
# or:
# sudo teamviewer setup # setup via CLI
I hope that helps.

Needs more developer testing / debugging? Including missing installation script (.deb doesn't have dependencies in it).

From lust looking at your output, I would say you are not using Raspbian 8.0, which is the only OS for RPI that we are currently supporting.

I installed Team Viewer on Odroid C2, Ubuntu 16.04 and I can connect just fine, I can see the desktop but can't send any mouse or keyboard commands.
Do you plan to support non RPI devices in the future?
Thanks
