how to check whether hardware acceleration works?

Mon Apr 11, 2016 3:30 pm

I have Pi 2B, OpenElec and Kodi; Confluence skin.
I bought a licence for hardware mpeg 2 coding and I put the code into config.txt with my windows PC.
Is on the confluence skin visible whether mpeg hardware decoding is enabled and functions? I do not see any indication.

The only *sure* way is to play a file containing the codec you bought a license for.
Example of what to look for here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zToVK6U7AM

From http://www.raspberrypi.com/mpeg-2-license-key/:
This key will enable a single Raspberry Pi to decode MPEG-2 video in hardware.
Surely you will know whether it works when you try to play back a video that needs that form of decoding?

From a command line:

Code: Select all

vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2
vcgencmd codec_enabled WVC1
