DVB Tuner

Tue Mar 01, 2016 10:44 am

Hello,

I have been trying to find a compatible DVB-T tuner for use with a raspberry pi running OSMC (version not really important I've got b,b+,2,zero and a 3 on the way). I have searched through the forums and tried to find a definitive answer, I did try one that was intended for windows and android, which is why I thought it may work, but alas it did not, I am hoping someone has one that works that I can find to buy online, I have been to http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeriphera ... VB_devices and have found a few with varying degrees of success, but I would like to know if someone has sucessfully used one before I buy a product that isn't compatible.

Cheers

got this one and drivers work fine out of box in raspbian

I think the RTL2832U + R820T combination is considered to be good choice
i got it working with tvheadend in jessie as per https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheaden ... Repository
EDIT:
in fact I got three of them over time from various ebay sellers, two white ones and one black one like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/281561364981 all of them work fine ( in rpi2, win7 notebook, openwrt based router) and I am quite happy with them. Previously I had two based on Afatech AF9015 and linux drivers were a bit pain to setup at that time and the tuner quality was worse - I often got various video artifacts in recorded data due to low signal quality even if my TV can cope with it just fine. The RTL2832U + R820T seems to get the signal better from same source so I over time I replaced AF9015 based ones with them and no longer have issues with signal quality.
