Looks like a clone of an Adafruit screen? https://www.adafruit.com/products/2441
Contact the seller. If the seller can't give detailed instructions and driver / image downloads then open an incident report and return it.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

That's the exact same screen (and same seller) I've received today.
Also struggling to get it to work. :(

Not sure, how I've managed to make it work, but suddenly, it's running now. :)

start with running

Code: Select all

sudo rpi-update
then reboot

(that's the moment, my screen started working)
if it's still blank, then maybe these are needed as well (I've started trying by these instructions);

Something took a terrible turn.
I might have bumped out the SDcard while it was working, and it wouldn't start again. So I've reburned the card with a fresh Raspbian, and I'm struggling again. :(
So no, simply running an update, ora even doing the other steps on that link, aren't enough. :((

Please don't encourage others to try using rpi-update unless it's known to offer a specific fix for a specific problem. Its use is discouraged as it's not part of a standard update and all it brings to an otherwise fully updated install is experimental patches that may break other things.
Pi2B Mini-PC/Media Centre: ARM=1GHz (+3), Core=500MHz, v3d=500MHz, h264=333MHz, RAM=DDR2-1200 (+6/+4/+4+schmoo). Sandisk Ultra HC-I 32GB microSD card on '50=100' OCed slot (42MB/s read) running Raspbian/KODI16, Seagate 3.5" 1.5TB HDD mass storage.

Good to know, thanks. I'm completely new in this, and had no idea, just the fact, that once I've managed to make it work after using this command.

You might be right, I'v just broken my Raspbian install for the third time this evening. :D
I'll give it another shot tomorrow, without the rpi-upgrade.

Thanks again!

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
... is all you should ever normally need.
Pi2B Mini-PC/Media Centre: ARM=1GHz (+3), Core=500MHz, v3d=500MHz, h264=333MHz, RAM=DDR2-1200 (+6/+4/+4+schmoo). Sandisk Ultra HC-I 32GB microSD card on '50=100' OCed slot (42MB/s read) running Raspbian/KODI16, Seagate 3.5" 1.5TB HDD mass storage.
