7 port powered USB hub (d-link)

Fri Aug 03, 2012 7:45 pm

Hi,

I bought a powered d-link 7 port USB hub (dub-7), and am using this to power the rpi just fine. Strange thing is, when I plug in the wired keyboard and mouse to the hub (and connect the hub to the rpi) the rpi no longer recognises that i have my dsl cable plugged in, When I plug the keyboard and mouse straight into the rpi (and still powered by the dub-h7) the network is recognised again, with the mouse and keyboard plugged directly to the rpi.

There seems to be a conflict with the rpi and the dub-h7 whenever the usb hub is plugged into one of the rpi's usb ports. Has anyone else come across this, and if so, what did you do to fix it?

It was a problem with early firmware.

I have a DUB-H7 and it works perfectly fine for me.

Similar thing happened with me... I had a logik 7 port powered USB hub and when I plug it in everything appeared fine. Then I tried the Internet and for some bizarre reason it wasn't working. Unplugged hub and it's fine again. Any way to fix it???

Hi

Can you upgrade the firmware on these?

'Firmware' isnt Firmware in the conventional sense. There is no Flash ROM memory on the RPi. It's files stored on the /boot partition that relate to how to handle physical interfaces. If you are using a relatively fresh distro like Raspbian though you shouldnt have a problem since they update the firmware with their stuff...

You can also use hexxah's firmware update tool possibly.

Hi

I think you have misunderstood my question. I was asking if the hubs firmware could be upgraded as I have one of these hubs but it currently doesn't work with the Raspi.

Hi

I've just realised you originally meant the Raspi firmware not the hubs. I will give it another try with the version of firmware I have (28 July).
