Raspbian OR Jessie for OpenCV?

Sun Jan 17, 2016 10:25 pm

Hi guys,
Was wondering if there was a difference between how the Camera works in the 2 versions? Can OpenCV still run on Jessie?
Thanks

The latest Raspbian IS Jessie. Do you mean Jessie OR Wheezy?

I'm running the old Raspbian and want to upgrade to Jessie, but won't if it doesn't work with OpenCV.

Get another SD card. Load Jessie on it. Do everything in OpenCV on the new card that you're doing on the current card. Then you'll know if it works for what you're doing.

(It probably will. Very few programs change behavior with an OS release change.)

FWIW, I am running Jessie Lite. I compiled OpenCV 3 on my Pi2 (from instruction found on the web) and it works just fine interfacing with the camera. I use OpenCV with the Python Picamera library.
