Raspberry Pi in truck

Wed Dec 30, 2015 8:01 pm

Hi,

I'm wondering if it would be possible to use the Pi inside a truck - in the driver cabin? For a commercial/industrial solution.

It has to work even if it's cold (it will take some time in the morning before the cabin gets heated).
I'm trying to find some information about the temperature range which is my biggest concern.
I will not connect any display or keyboard to the Pi.

If the Pi is not good for this, is there any other suggestion? The device I'm looking for should be able to connect to WIFI (dongle is ok), and a RFID unit. So the Pi looks very promising except for my concern above.

Would be happy for some advice

A Pi will be fine in a truck environment.

If it is too cold for the Pi then it'll be too cold for you. You will need a decent power supply that allows you to safely shutdown the pi when you turn off the engine.

Yes to all.
I have one in my car with a display for my kids to watch their annoying cartoons. Works cold. But I usually let the cabin cool off in the summer before using the pi.
