Posting time stamps BST?
Anyone know why the posting time stamps are an hour ahead of UTC/GMT?

Because the switch from DST to normal time isn't automatic. You need to go into the User Control Panel->Board Settings->Edit Global Settings and turn off DST manually.

How bizarre. I thought that's what we had computers for.

It's precisely what computers do, but phpBB3 (the forum software) goes out of it's way to not do anything that could be done better with a computer. They probably saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5wpm-gesOY and got scared.BigNeilM wrote:How bizarre. I thought that's what we had computers for.
Any language using left-hand whitespace for syntax is ridiculous

The argument for farmers and their cows has gone. My wife's cousin's cattle milk themselves when they feel like it in a totally automated robotic parlour. Business has now lost any argument with increasing globalisation. So what are the reasons that are left for DST now?scotty101 wrote:The sooner we scrap this ridiculous concept of Daylight "Savings" the better.

Did that 45 years ago. Same arguements, same complaints. Ditched it within a year (or was it two?)
Why does everyone think we must start work when the clock says nine A.M.? Why can't you work from eight till four for half the year, and nine till five for the other half?
I spent most of my life working 7-7 / 12-12 / 8-8, seven-day fortnight. Being on the road whilst the rest of London wasn't made the commute far easier and quicker.
Interesting that everyone talks about daylight saving in relation to the Earth's axial tilt.
But that only makes the Sun go in a figure-of-eight.
The fact that the Earth's orbit isn't circular is what makes the Sun move from side to side, so delaying Sun-rise and Sun-set for part of the year.

Yeah, I used to work 7:30-4, then 7:00-4 with a very late and longBurngate wrote:Did that 45 years ago. Same arguements, same complaints. Ditched it within a year (or was it two?)
