Cloning SD card on mac using "dd" isn't working

Hi! I know that there are a lot of posts on the Forums about cloning your SD card but none of them seem to address the problem I'm having. I followed the directions on this website and everything seems to go well. When I insert the clone card into the Raspberry Pi, it doesn't boot properly. It hangs on this error: "end kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,6)". I've followed the directions exactly several times and every time I get the same result. I've followed instructions on other websites that do it slightly different and still, same result. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

The app is saying that the image file I'm trying to upload is too large for the card I'm trying to install it on. Both cards are advertised as the same size and they are the same make and model. Is there a way I can remove the empty space from my IMG so that it will fit on this slightly smaller card?

Use rsync, there are examples elsewhere on the forum
