Wish List for Raspberry Pi Model 3:

- at least 2 UART ports
- at least 2 i2c ports
- at least 8 extra ADC ports (at least by 10 bit resolution)
- hardware graphics accelerator, perhaps by support of external USB-to-VGA or HDMI (?) graphic adapters

Not required, there are other boards which will likely fit your requirements

and airplanes? who needs airplanes? Not required, they can't fly anyway as they are heavier than air... ;)

You must be new here.

yes indeed, why?

(if one thinks the Raspberry is fine as-it-is ... why didn't he/she stay with the Raspberry A ? )

Just pulling your chain. This is the first 'wish list' I have seen for a while.

Some time ago, new threads would regularly appear stating what was missing on the Pi, and how great it would be if only it had X, Y and/or Z.

Then the B+ came out and they quietened down for a while.

Then there were a few more murmurs of dissent, until... the Pi 2 came out. And there was much rejoicing.

Unfortunately, asking for more is a pointless exercise, since the Pi designers are actually quite good, and try to make the best design at the chosen price point as they can. We can speculate on the design decisions that were made, but ultimately most people recognise why things are as they are. There are also some things that are obviously not possible with the current SoC, so asking for them is pointless as it's either impossible, or not possible without extra (costly) hardware (and even something costing a penny is expensive).

Finally, for the world at large, the appearance of the Pi 2B was a complete surprise (it was a rather well-kept secret), so even if we could influence the design of the Pi we could never know when the features we wanted would appear.

But I still want a pony.

I don't want a pony, if any, then an Arabian Stallion

Shouldn't we send all requests for new features etc to element14 now ?

Maybe with a large cheque ?

Don't forget to include a sandwich...and wheels so the Pi can deliver it.

The Raspberry Pi *is* fine as it is...for the purposes to which it is suited. That doesn't mean that a future Pi can't be even better.

As for the Model A...got one you don't want? I'd be happy to take it off your hands as I don't have one.

yes the Raspi was good and is good at either time, but as time goes by, the improvements and enhancements proceed.
(no, I have no A type, I started with the B+ because A and B had faaaaaaar tooooooo feeeeew pins...)
(edit: the sandwich is inside or down under ;) )

Finally, the better one is the foe of the good one.

ps, extra digital and analog pins could be provided by an extra onboard AVR or even an ARM M3, quickly interfaced e.g., by highspeed-SPI or USB.
That reminds me of another model 3... or TRE...

now we are pleased to present to you...

Raspberry Pi TRE ! :ugeek:

Just within the last couple of weeks, I replaced the Model B (so old it has polyfuses for the USB ports) that has served as my alarm clock for something over 3 years with a Pi2B with a HifiBerry DAC+ sound card. This was *not* done because the Model B couldn't do the job.

My wish list (with the exception of a mass storage device connector), more or less in order of preference is:
1. Higher clock speed (>= 1.5GHz)
2. More RAM (2+GB)
3. Upgraded GPU, capable of 4K at 30fps, or better
4. Independent Ethernet bus.
5. On chip RTC

Note that none of those items call for more pins (that can be done now with add on cards) or ADC (adding "more" would be starting from a base of...zero). All my items would require a new SoC, so I don't expect to see any of them for at least 2 years, and possibly not for 4. Still....I'd *love* to be surprised.

I can't wait for the Pi 4.
I hear there's a secret release of pi 5 and pi 5 turbo. They come with Orangutan-Glass 1.0

+1
These lists are pointless, they won't change the undisclosed plans that the RPF may or may not have for a RPi 2A, CM2 or RPi 3A or RPi 3B. They also won't change whether the Earth is flat or whether there's water on Mars.

isn't this the "official" Raspberry Pi forum?
So cannnot the (hardware) developers be expected to read what the consumers wish and what issues exist?

Having to keep bombarding the RPF with wish lists is insulting their intelligence, they know what is wished for, what is feasible, what issus have arisen.

That why it took 6 months for Jessie to be released, and EU has always stated "backward compatibility" as a pre-requisite

Though nice that after a week of joining the Forum you know better :(

It's been done to death.

The developers do listen to what people would like though. Hence the Pi B+, then the 2B. There are limits to what they can do within the target price range and their resources though.

One of the few things that might be reasonably possible that has been mentioned on this thread is an on board RTC. The others are unlikely for now, at least.

Also, I would like a pony too. It'll make a change from the usual christmas dinner ;)
