Monitor recommendation for Model B

Hi,
I no longer have a desktop PC so I need to buy a monitor specifically for use with my Pi model B, I have no particular projects planned at the moment I just want to tinker with some programming to start with; also I'd like to keep the size fairly small if possible. Any suggestions available in the UK greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Jason

Charity shops have been a good source for me, about £10 each for something reasonable.
Usually VGA connector but fine with an HDMI/VGA adaptor

How small is "fairly small"?
How important is price?
Does it have to be new or is used acceptable?
Pretty much any monitor with a DVI or HDMI input should work fine. I would avoid VGA only monitors, converting from HDMI to VGA requires an active converter which is fairly expensive and another thing to go wrong.
You can pick up used 1280x1024 17 inch DVI monitors very cheap from charity shops, ebay (especially collection only listings) etc. Smaller than that things start to get more specialised and hence expensive.

Don't forget the ones with DVI-D connectors, they're electronically identical to HDMI (but without the audio channels). No adapter needed, no lack of resolution, just a simple & cheap HDMI to DVI-D cable.

In the thrift shop I get monitors from I'm mostly seeing 17" 1280x1024. With a little patience, one can get them with DVI-D input. At the moment I'm trying to migrate to 19" ones. If someone is near Vallejo, CA I could probably spare one or two 17" ones.
